The recently opened Le Méridien Taipei burst into the scene in early May with a creative arts festival entitled ‘A New Perspective’. Along with interactive cultural discussions and activities, the event featured ‘Giraffe Camouflage for the Industrial Era’, a piece created exclusively for the hotel by the world-renowned Chinese artist Li Hui.

The artwork depicts a stainless steel giraffe lowering its head in a resting pose, and refers to the conflict between the natural environment and industrial civilisation.

The event was organised by Jerome Sans, the Cultural Curator of Le Méridien, and the founding member of the LM100 program.

The LM100 program was founded in 2007 and currently has 23 members whose aim is to enrich the experience at Le Méridien hotels. The event ‘A New Perspective’ was designed to showcase the talent of LM100 members, allowing guests to stimulate dialogue and express insights.

Sans led a discussion on Contemporary Art with featured artist Li Hui in Le Méridien Taipei on May 3.

Li Hui is a world-renowned conceptual artist who works in diverse mediums, including neon-lit acrylic sculptures and laser beams, to create works that are both aesthetically pleasing and mystifying. Li’s works have been featured in various exhibitions, including he National Art Museum of China and the National Museum of Contemporary Art Seoul.

Li’s artworks were unveiled and on display in the hotel’s lobby as part of Le Méridien’s award-winning Arrival Experience.

Visual and audio effects in the artwork aims to reset the minds of hotel guests, inspiring them to experience the cultural side of Le Méridien.

‘Le Méridien Taipei is committed to bringing a rich and contemporary cultural experience to our guests and inspiring visitors to discover travel with a new perspective, said General Manager Daven Tai.

The Arrival Experience also includes an artist-designed key card that offers complimentary access to the local Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei.

The five-star Le Méridien hotel, located in the cosmopolitan Xinyi district of Taipei, has established itself as a gathering place for creative guests, with an emphasis on the arts, innovative cuisine and an inspiring atmosphere that appeals to all five senses.
