Hospitals in Taiwan are equipped with the world’s most advanced diagnostic technology, including the Toshiba Aquilion ONE, a 64 section Computed Tomography (CT) medical imaging system, one of only two in the Asia-Pacific region.
Developed by Toshiba Medical Systems, the Aquilion ONE dynamic volume CT is a medical imaging system that can image an entire organ like the brain or heart in one rotation, and show real-time function, including blood flow and movement, in less time than traditional multi-detector row CT systems.
Using its 320 ultra-high resolution detector rows (0.5 mm in width), the Aquilion ONE scans an entire organ, up to 16 cm of anatomy, in a single pass and can produce a 4D video that shows an organ's structure, movement and blood flow. This unprecedented diagnostic imaging technique reduces diagnosis time from hours and days to mere minutes, pivotal for treating at-risk patients with stroke, serious heart conditions and other life-threatening diseases. In addition, the Aquilion ONE’s single, comprehensive exam can replace a variety of duplicative tests and invasive procedures, increasing patient throughput and comfort while lowering healthcare costs and radiation exposure.
In 2009 the Aquillion One was named a Gold winner in the Medical Design Excellence Awards, an award organized by Canon Communications and sponsored by the company’s Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry magazine.
