A typical night market in Taiwan may sell anything from food to clothing to fortune telling services"Hot and Noisy" - Night markets are a cultural institution in Taiwan, showcasing an enormous variety of traditional Taiwanese snacks, delicacies, crafts and other products to overflowing streets filled with market-goers

Night markets in Taiwan have become famous for offering xiaochi foods (xiaochi roughly translates as “small eats”). Served in portions, these dishes are often taken as carry-out, though some sellers provide a few small folding tables with stools.

Famous and unique Taiwanese snacks range from oyster omelets to fried rice noodles, tempura, Tainan Danzai noodles, Taiwanese spring rolls, rice tube pudding, braised pork rice and the world famous Stinky Tofu. Food is cheap and delicious, and by no means inferior, while each specialty gives you an insight to the people of the area it originates from.

Typical Taiwanese snacks are found everywhere, but Taiwan's night markets in particular, each night market having its own traditions and characteristics, are the places where these snacks can be found in abundance. Trying out these snacks, tourists will be able to learn about different specialties, cultures and people from different areas, adding a whole new perspective to traveling.

Besides food, night markets also feature numerous other products for sale, including clothes, bags, shoes, trinkets, kitchen items, etc. In addition, carnival-style games are typically available to play for the price of a few coins.
